Aug 10 - Puerto Escondido

After the crazy adventure of yesterday, we spent the morning and early afternoon relaxing. We made spaghetti in for lunch and then took a taxi to a nearby beach that was supposed to be more swimmer friendly, Puerto Angelito. The beach directly connected to the road was super crowded so we crossed the rocks to the next and picked an umbrella with lounge chairs to rent from one of the several people soliciting passersby. I ordered a fresh coconut, which was super delicious.

Unfortunately, the sunshine didn't last very long and it started pouring. We decided to stick it out but soon had to leave the chairs because they were packing up the pads. We went under the pavilion and sat at a table, read for a while, and ordered a little food before heading out. The family that ran the restaurant was really nice, we spoke to their daughter who was living in Portland but visiting on vacation. She spoke in English and we in Spanish, both wanting to practice.

After going back to the hotel we went to buy bus tickets for the morning and then had dinner at an elegant seafood restaurant on the beach, Junto al Mar, whose owner we had met earlier during our boat confusion. It was delicious. We took a last night walk on the beach and stopped at the crafts market outside the hostel to buy some painted mugs and little dishes and a platter. We watched some TV and went to sleep.
